Man Sets up Sprinkler System

A man living at the Snodgrass residence was reported to have set up an elaborate irrigation system in his front yard to sprinkle water on the sidewalk. Apparently fed up of neighbors walking by his house, the man indicated that his intention was to soak people walking on the sidewalk outside his house in order to dissuade pedestrian traffic. "I'm tired of people using the sidewalk outside the front of my house. You'd think sidewalks were built for people. Don't they know that sidewalks are meant for parking cars on? Sheesh! This system will send a warning shot across the bow of anyone attempting to walk past my house at 4:00 am in the morning. Beware!"

The system was built using "at least 2 but less than 3" sprinkler heads, 2 garden hoses, and a battery operated timer, all connected to a faucet. When asked whether the military might be interested in such a system for use in Iraq or some other hotspot, the man indicated that he hadn't really considered marketing it. "The system is still in beta. I have to work out some kinks. For instance, it only comes on between 4 am and 5 am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. And it's always on during that time. There didn't seem to be a setting on the faucet to trigger only when a pedestrian walked by. It's either on or off. Pretty dumb design if you ask me."

The man agreed to show us the system in action. During the 4:03 am demo, it was observed that a great deal of water was expelled from the system in a circular motion. When it was pointed out to the man that it was pretty easy to avoid getting wet since the spray moved in a predicable fashion, the man simply said, "Most people aren't smart enough to figure that out." The man admitted that the system needs some fine tuning. Approximately 99.9% of the water landed on the lawn rather than on the sidewalk. The man said "I still have to make some adjustments. It's really hitting the lawn more than wetting pedestrians right now. But it'll get there. For now, I'll have to put up a sign telling pedestrians to walk on my lawn instead of the sidewalk so that the system will be able to soak them."
